Keepsakes made with an artisan’s expertise and care
One of a kind
Using a free-form work style, no two pieces of work will be the same. When you choose one of my pieces it will be an extension of your style.
Robust
Quarter-riven lumber expands and contracts minimally in any direction. The furniture, in turn, does not warp or crack. As time goes on the piece becomes stronger settling into itself.
Experience
I use my experience to provide you with a life-long piece and answer any questions you may have about the craft or materials used. With 6+ years of experience and countless hours of study, I hope to remain a student for life and share my wisdom with others.

Anita Warming
Christopher crafted a cutting board for me. The wood is very smooth and has beautifully rounded edges. Christopher even added feet on the bottom to keep it in place while I use it. It is functional and yet also elegant.
Bri Mooney
I commissioned this Civil War styled “Soldier’s Box” for my living history impression and have owned it for a few years now. It still holds up and history buffs note its authentic design.

Common Questions
-
A: Green wood has been used for thousands of years—before sawmills and kilns were readily available. Folks couldn't wait for air-stacked lumber to dry, which could take 1-2 years depending. When green wood is quarter split, it reacts differently than when it’s sawn. You’re essentially making sure the wood is split where it is weakest, then shaping the board or piece from there. When using this method to create, you’re able to use much stronger material in the end.

A: In most cases power tools will always be faster, but that doesn’t always mean better. In the section above I explained how when wood is split, hewn, and planed you end up with a stronger piece than when it’s sawn into shape. Now once at that point I’m able to use my handtools effectively and efficiently knowing the wood I’m working with is less likely to warp, crack, or contain unusable sections. I’ve noticed over the years that I’m better able to consider the details and put more love into my work while using handtools. To me, that is worth going a little slower for.
